Keep evidence that helps you teach the next lesson: a mastery note, an optional score, how much support was given, and—if useful—a private photo of the paper. Completing a lesson never becomes an automatic 100%.
How should I grade this?
Use the lesson’s mastery statement
Introduced: the child met the idea with modeling.
Developing: partial success; prompts or another lesson are still useful.
Secure: representative work is accurate and explainable with little or no help.
Needs review: a prerequisite or misconception should be taught again.
Record help honestly
Independent, prompted, corrected together, and parent-scribed work are all real learning evidence—but they do not mean the same thing. Record the help instead of inflating or lowering the score.
When points help
Use points for questions with clear correct answers. For narration, Bible, science, history, and writing, prefer the mastery statement and a short note or rubric. Never grade belief, personality, speed, handwriting neatness unrelated to the goal, or a disability.
Reading: accuracy, meaning, evidence, and useful self-correction. Writing: ideas and organization first, then conventions; label supplied spelling or transcription. Math: correct answer, fitting representation, reasoning, and unit. Bible/history/science: accurate narration, source or observation evidence, sequence/context, and claims no stronger than the evidence.
“Secure” is for a skill shown consistently, not merely a completed lesson.

Every built-in Kindergarten lesson now has an original matching printable; Grades 1–5 use lesson-matched sheets where paper adds value. The sheets are generated from our curriculum or your choices rather than copied from another curriculum.
For copyrighted Scripture translations, paste only the text your family is licensed or permitted to use. The app does not supply copyrighted Bible text.

About the builder
Why this Parent Companion exists
Built by a father for family teaching.
Christian Classical Homeschool was created by Kurt Doughty, a father of four, nondenominational Christian preacher, and retired United States Marine. His final Marine Corps duty station was Marine Helicopter Squadron One—HMX-1, the Presidential Helicopter Squadron. He also studied electrical and robotics engineering at Indiana State University.
Kurt first built this companion for his own family. He wanted something that would help a parent sit down, open the Bible or lesson, and confidently teach the next day without turning the home into an institution or the parent into a record-keeping clerk.
Kurt and his wife have been married for more than seventeen years and are raising four children. This remains an independent, parent-built project—not an official publication of a congregation, school, denomination, the Marine Corps, HMX-1, or Indiana State University.
Authorship and review: Kurt is the principal author and maintainer of the built-in curriculum. Lessons are checked with automated coverage and phonics-sequence tests, Scripture and source audits, and independent code and content reviews. Those safeguards help find mistakes; they are not accreditation and do not replace a parent's judgment or direct reading of Scripture and sources.

The curriculum distinguishes fact from inference, interpretation, tradition, and preference. It gives children worthy stories and a grateful love for home and country while refusing both false legends presented as fact and fashionable cynicism.
Formation policy: Scripture is the final authority, and New Testament teaching is not filtered through a denominational standard. The built-in lessons teach the Lord’s Prayer as Jesus’ words in Scripture, provide weekly Scripture memory and Bible-text questions, and offer hymns as optional family memory. They do not require a human creed, denominational catechism, or church-calendar observance. Families remain free to add other biblical memory and congregational or home practices.
